What is PHP?
What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
PHP, sometimes called day treatment, is the most intensive level of outpatient care. You spend most of the day in treatment, with individual and group therapy, medical and psychiatric care, and relapse-prevention work, then sleep at home or in sober living.
It gives you close to the structure of residential treatment without living at a facility, and it's built to step you down as you stabilize: first to intensive outpatient (IOP), then to standard outpatient.
PHP may be right for you if you:
- Have just finished detox or a residential program and need daily support
- Have substance use that's causing serious problems but don't need 24-hour medical supervision
- Are dealing with depression, anxiety or trauma alongside addiction
- Have relapsed in a lower level of care and need more structure
