Admissions: How to Get Started at Zoe Behavioral Health

Southern California Drug Detox

Getting Help Is Easier Than You Think

Reaching out for help is the hardest part. We know that. By the time most people call us, they have been carrying the weight of addiction or a mental health struggle for a long time — and picking up the phone can feel overwhelming.

We want you to know this: the call itself is simple. There is no judgment, no pressure, and no obligation. Just a conversation with someone who understands what you are going through and knows how to help.

This page explains exactly what happens from the moment you reach out, so there are no surprises and nothing to fear.

Before the Admissions Process

You can certainly call us right away if you know that you’re ready to get started with treatment at Zoe Behavioral Health as soon as possible. However, many of our patients find it valuable to spend some time researching on our website before getting in touch with us. Doing so could help you make a more informed decision about which type of care is right for you.

For example, we have several different treatment plans for you to consider. This includes our intensive outpatient program (IOP), our partial hospitalization program (PHP), and other unique offerings that are designed with the needs of select individuals in mind. Spending some time reviewing this information now will give you a better understanding of what to expect during the treatment process. It will also enable you to ask any questions that you may have for us during your first chat with a representative from Zoe.

Step 1: The First Call

When you call Zoe Behavioral Health, you will speak with a member of our admissions team. This first conversation is a qualification call — a relaxed, confidential discussion where we begin to understand your situation.

We will ask about what you are struggling with, a little about your history, and what you are hoping to get from treatment. There are no wrong answers, and you do not need to have anything figured out before you call. This is simply where we begin.

Our admissions line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whenever you are ready, we are here.

Step 2: Insurance Verification

During that same call, we will verify your insurance benefits — a process that takes just a couple of minutes. We work with most major PPO insurance plans, and we will let you know exactly what your coverage looks like before you commit to anything.

This means no surprises and no hidden costs. You will know where you stand financially right from the start.

Insurance plans we work with include:

  • Aetna
  • Anthem Blue Cross
  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Cigna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Optum
  • Health Net
  • Magellan

You can also verify your insurance online here before you call, if you prefer.

Step 3: Phone Assessment with a Clinician

Once your insurance is verified, we will arrange a more in-depth phone assessment between you and one of our staff physicians. This is a confidential clinical conversation where you will discuss your substance use and mental health history in more detail.

Based on this assessment, the physician will recommend the level of care best suited to your situation — whether that is detox, our partial hospitalization program (PHP), intensive outpatient program (IOP), or standard outpatient care. You will always have the final say in your treatment plan. This is your recovery, and you stay in control of it.

If you need to detox first, we will connect you with one of our trusted local detox partners to ensure you start your recovery safely. Once detox is complete, you transition smoothly into your treatment program with us.

Step 4: Same-Day Admission

For those who are ready, we offer same-day admissions. Availability is generally good, which means you will not be left waiting on a list while your motivation fades or your situation worsens.

When someone decides they are ready for help, that moment matters. We do everything we can to get you started while that window is open.

What to Bring

If you are starting treatment with us, here are a few things to have ready:

  • A valid form of ID
  • Your insurance card
  • Any current medications and a list of dosages
  • Comfortable clothing
  • A list of any questions you have for our clinical team

Our admissions team will give you a full list tailored to your specific program when you are admitted, so do not worry about getting everything perfect in advance.
